This Is The Place Heritage Park

I love early morning phone calls extending invitations such as the one

Saturday, July 25, inviting me to go to "This Is The Place" Heritage

Park for an outing with the family. It was the perfect day to go.

The sky was slightly overcast and the crowds were small--no long

lines to stand in and the children were able to get right into the

various activities.

Our first stop was at the "church" to make a craft -- coloring small

bags to hold the treasures the children might collect along the way.

Kohler needed just a little help from Mom!

We next visited the "Petting" area where the children were able to

pet goats, sheep, bunnies, and observe small pigs romping about in

the mud.

These miniature goats were so cute, cuddly and friendly!

Hailey loved the little goats!

The little sheep were too busy eating to take note of Hailey and

Kohler but they gave them a quick pat anyway. So soft!

The bunnies were not allowed out of their cage, so it was hard to

pet them. But, they were very friendly and eager to check out your

hand!

The horse back riding arena was next to the Petting area.

We couldn't believe it--No lines for the horses!

However, the ride was much too short for the kids.

Hailey could have ridden around and around all afternoon.

Ian, like Hailey, loved the horses and hated to say "goodbye" when the

ride was over! But, we were able to come back one more time at the

end of the day instead of doing another craft which made everyone

"Happy"!

I'm not sure this was his favorite thing to do!

Of course, we couldn't pass up a ride on the train! Such a lovely day

for a train ride, no lines, plenty of sunshine, and a awesome view of

the valley!

We took a ride to the Indian Teepee's and Hogan's and made Arrow

Head necklaces!

Ian gets some help from a Navajo Indian...

...while Brian help's Hailey with her necklace!

Soon it was time for lunch. We ate delicious hamburgers and

scrumptous french fries at the hotel. Dessert was ice cream cones--

chocolate mint! Yummy!

With full tummies it was time to find a place for the parade.

Everything shuts down for the parade as all the workers are the

parade!

Earlier in the day we watched some dances performed by Indians

in costume, covered our ears when a cannon was shot off.

Never had I seen a smoke ring from a cannon, but this one had

one that floated over our heads and into the trees behind us.

Way cool!

There was also a cannon that shot off candy! The wrappers

were slightly singed and smelled of smoke! But, it was still

fun!

Sorry, Brian, I don't think you can fit in there!

Of course, the play village is a must! I have no idea what the

ground cover (street) was made of, but oh, was it soft and

squishy to walk on! The kids had a ball playing in the houses

and really didn't want to leave.

And, of course, Kerri found her dream "Log Cabin"...

...but, sadly, it was a tad bit too small!

Home seemed to be calling after six or so hours at the

park and little ones (and big ones) were feeling a little tired.

What a great day we had and a fun way to end our 24th of July

weekend celebration! We had gone to Brian's on the 24th for a

barbecue.

We had such a good time being together. The only thing that

would have made it better, would have been to have Rob home

with us instead of working in Texas!
