Thursday--Truffles

Thursday, October, 15, we made Truffles for our Pre-Halloween
activity. It gave us an opportunity to spend time together and
also to share what we had made with others.

Arriving home from work Thursday morning, I quickly mixed up a
batch of candy, divided it, added flavorings to each part and placed
the covered bowls in the fridge to "set" up until
the kids were here and ready to "roll" the truffles.
I picked up Hailey from school and Kerri brought Ian and Kohler
over to join us in our activity.

First and most importantly, hands must be washed and washed and
washed clean, then the table had to be washed and dried. Finally,
the truffles could be brought out and the fun could begin. The
first batch we rolled was Hailey's favorite flavoring: Orange!
Grandma spooned the chocolate into each child's hand to be rolled
into a nice ball and then rolled in black and orange sprinkles.

I even got to help roll a few while Kohler rolled out his "play
dough" truffles.

The next was "raspberry" rolled in Oreo cookie
crumbs after more hand-washing. And, oh, it was so hard
not to take a taste or lick those fingers while rolling. But, I must
admit, I was really proud of Ian and Hailey and their being so careful
with the candy. As a reward for being so careful there always seemed
to be a little chocolate waiting to be scrapped out of the container
and tasted to make sure it was ok.

Hailey and Ian worked so well together and rolled between their
hands perfect little balls of chocolate. Mint flavored truffles were
rolled in chocolate sprinkes and plain chocolate was covered in
powdered sugar!

Two cookie sheets were quickly filled with the delectable delicacies
by two excellent "candy rollers"!

The "Happy Candy Maker's"cheered on by Mom
and Grandma. And, Mom great job keeping Kohler happy with his
"play dough".

After deciding who would be the recipients of our treats, the
truffles were place in little "Halloween" paper cups
and placed on our "Halloween" plates to
be delivered that afternoon.

(This is a very simple, easy, non-fail recipe: cream cheese, powdered
sugar, chocolate chips and flavorings!)

Next week's activity?????
